Attention Seniors: You will have a Sr. Meeting with Balfour on Jan. 5th, 2010 at 2:45 pm. This is concerning your graduation announcements and measurements for cap and gown. Balfour will return on Jan. 11th, 12th to take orders.

Key Club: Greenery is arriving today. Pick up your orders at the football field today after school or at 7:00 PM or Friday after school.

Attention Cheerleaders: Next week practice will be normal time and place on Monday, but Tuesday Basketball cheer practice will be at Carruthers 3:30 to 5:00 pm. (11/20)

Refreshments will be served after the awards in the cafeteria giving everyone the opportunity to take photographs. For any further information, please contact the athletic department at the high school.

Congratulations to Mason Tippy and Neal Coelho on their performance at the science competition in Carlyle this weekend. Both made it to the final round with mason winning the competition.

MHS is hosting a Free H1N1 Flu Clinic on Friday, November 13, 2009 for all students (with parent permission) as well as staff (who are in high risk categories). The permission slips must be signed and returned to the MHS front office by 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10th.

Boy’s basketball tryouts for sophomores, juniors, and seniors, will be from 3:30 - 5:30 after school on Monday November 9th in the MHS gym. Freshmen will tryout from 7:30 - 9:00 pm on Monday, November 9th in the MHS gym. To try out you must have: a current physical, insurance verification and athletic responsibility acknowledgment on file.

Upward Bound will be here on Friday, Nov. 13th, during all lunch periods in the cafeteria.

MHS PARENTS/STUDENTS: Information packets, with permission slips, were sent home with students in their 4B class on 11-5-09 regarding the H1N1 Clinic. MHS is hosting a Free H1N1 Flu Clinic on Friday, November 13, 2009 for all students (with parent permission) as well as staff (who are in high risk categories). The permission slips must be signed and returned to the MHS front office by 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10th.

Any football player interested in attending the SIU home football game on Nov 14th free of charge should sign up with Coach Stilley before Wednesday, November 11th. Additional tickets are also available for family members at a discounted price.

MHS Winter "Meet the Teams" is Friday, November 13, 2009, starting with chili (donations accepted) @ 5:00 pm and announcements @ 6:00 pm.

ATTENTION RED DEVIL COACHES, ATHLETES & FANS: The Fall Sports Awards Ceremony will be held Monday, November 16, 2009. This year’s awards ceremony will be held in the Murphysboro High School Auditorium instead of the cafeteria. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. All athletes, coaches, parents and fans are invited to attend at no charge. There will ONLY be reserved seating for the teams. Refreshments will be served after the awards in the cafeteria giving everyone the opportunity to take photographs. For any further information, please contact the athletic department at the high school.

ATTENTION JUNIORS: My Daddy's Cheesecake orders are due Friday, October 30th, remember to turn in all order forms and money to Ms. Ward in the AE office. Remember that there is still a $50 gift certificate to the student who sells the most.

Key Club members working at the Carruthers Fall Festival: See Mr. Hall if you have a scary Halloween outfit you would be willing to wear in the Haunted House. First 3 to sign up will be taken. Also only one more week to sell greenery.

Attention All Beta members, especially newbies: We need volunteers to work Carruthers Fall Festival this Thursday night! Earn some easy and fun participation points! Sign up sheets are located outside Ms. Goode's office, A60, in the English wing. (10/29)

The Beta Club and the American Red Cross would like to thank all who donated blood at the blood drive! We apologize to all those who signed up to give, but ran out of time. Hopefully the Red Cross will bring more people for the Spring Blood Drive so we can get to everyone! ATTN ALL MHS PARENTS/STUDENTS: MHS will be hosting an H1N1 Flu Clinic on Friday, November 13, 2009 for all students (with parent permission) as well as staff (who are in high risk categories). Permission slips and information sheets will be sent home in the next week or so, continue to watch announcements for details.

NHS and other school organizations are currently raising funds for the family of Tony McDowell. You can donate in various classrooms that have the collection can the entire week of Oct 26-30. There will also be a Bake Sale during lunch hours on Wed, Thurs and Friday. Anyone interested in helping with the bake sale please sign up in Mrs. Davis office. Thank you! (10/30)

Football Players—“Equipment turn in” will be on Wednesday, Oct. 28th for Freshmen. Your equipment should be turned in to the Equipment Room—personally to YOUR COACH. Varsity and Sophomores football players have a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29th to turn in all equipment in the Dr. Ed. Room-C6. All equipment should be clean including game and practice gear. Players who do not turn in their equipment will be charge a late fee!

We have 121 students that have not turned in their agenda book receipts—it looks like Saturday School is going to be very busy! Please turn your receipts in ASAP—so you’re not spending your Saturday with us!!!!

Come join us for the Autumn Music Masquerade! The MHS Concert Choir will be presenting a Hallowe'en concert on Monday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the CCHS Auditorium in Carbondale. The concert also features several other choirs and dance groups from the area. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any MHS choir member or from Mrs. Manfredi. Proceeds go toward our trip to the International Choral Festival in Italy next June. Come and support our wonderful singers!
